Thanks to the evolution of racing games such as Sony's Gran Turismo and Microsoft's Forza series, just to mention a few, the line between the virtual and the physical worlds is becoming increasingly blurred.
Last month, for the launch of its new Forza Horizon Rallye, Microsoft arranged a pan-European road race from Paris, France, to Birmingham, UK, named "Escaping the Grid" with a special twist.
Sitting behind the wheel of real life sports cars such as the BMW M6, Mercedes SLS AMG and Nissan GT-R were gamers with no real life racing experience. They were paired up with real racing drivers, who have no involvement with games.
The pairs drove 4 days and 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from France to England where the race drivers were called in to show their skills in the virtual world.
BMW released a video that follows Uke the gamer and Peter, a BMW driving instructor said to know everything about racing but nothing about games. In addition, we also discovered a few clips of the event from Forza's own channel. Head past the break to check them all out for yourself.
