British Magazine Masks Dacia Sandero and Asks the Public to Guess What it is and How Much it Costs

If it weren't for the Autoexpress logos, we would have sworn that this video was made by…Dacia as a publicity stunt to promote the sales launch of its new Sandero supermini, which will be the Romanian brand's first model to arrive in UK showrooms in January.



With a starting price of £5,995 (equal to €7,400 / US$9,600 at today's exchange rates), the five-door Sandero will also be the cheapest new car money can buy in Britain.

The magazine parked an example of the Sandero at the Heart of Walton shopping centre in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, and covered up its logos before the host began asking by-passers which brand makes the car and how much it costs.

Something that was not noted in the video is that the Sandero priced just under £6,000 is the base Accent trim that comes with black bumpers and steel wheels, which means this one is one of the more expensive grade models.

Dacia Sandero Stepway Announces Prices for Third UK Model

Dacia Sandero Stepway is releasing pricing for its UK bound models. Following the announcements on the Sandero supermini and Duster compact SUVthat start at £5,995 and the £8,995 respectively, the Renault Group-owned brand said on Monday that the Sandero Stepway will be available from May 2013 with prices ranging from £7,995 to £10,795, or from £600 more than equivalent Sandero models.



The Dacia Sandero Stepway is the crossover version of the Sandero five-door supermini with 40mm extra ground clearance and a tougher exterior look thanks to the black body cladding, satin chrome roof bars, front and rear scuff plates, black wheelarch extenders and 16-inch alloy wheels.

There are two engine options starting with a direct-injection, turbocharged, three-cylinder 0.9-litre producing 89hp (90PS) and returning 52.3 mpg UK (43.5mpg US or 5.4 lt/100km) with CO2 emissions of 125g/km.

Those who prefer diesels can opt for the 1.5-liter dCi 90 with 89hp (90PS) that is good for 70.6mpg UK (equal to 58.9mpg or 4.0 lt/100km) and CO2 emissions of 105g/km.

Customers can pick between two trim levels. The base Ambiance offers Bluetooth, metallic paint, a radio/CD system, ESC, plus driver, passenger and front side airbags, as standard.

The Lauréate grade adds air conditioning, a chrome front grille, full electric windows, electric heated door mirrors, a MediaNav seven-inch touchscreen multimedia system with satellite navigation, AUX and USB inputs and four speakers, cruise control, speed limiter and rear parking sensors.

Dacia Offering Sandero with a Monthly Payment as Low as £69 in the UK

Dacia is looking to lure British customers into its showrooms not only with low starting prices for its two available models, the new Sandero hatchback and the Duster SUV, but also with affordable monthly payments, albeit with a high APR.The Romanian carmaker owned by the Renault Group said that the £5,995 (equal to €7,464 or US$9,525) entry-level Sandero Access supermini, which is the cheapest new car in the UK market, can be had with a deposit of £1,845 (€2,300 or US$2,931) and as little as £69 (€86 or US$110) per month at 9.4% APR for 49 months.

To keep the car at the end of the 49 months, though, there's an optional final payment of £1701, a £99 acceptance fee, and a £149 option to purchase fee, which puts the total to £7,106.

For those who want to make a lower down-payment, with a deposit of £699 (€870 or US$1,110), at 9.9% APR, monthly payments are set at £99 (€123 or US$157).

Dacia said that the Sandero's bigger sibling, the Duster SUV, is also available for monthly payments of under £100. With a £3,179 deposit, it costs £99 per month to get into the base, front-wheel drive version of the Duster (priced at £8,995) – see details below.

Both the new Sandero and the Duster are available for order now with first deliveries in early 2013.
